When you ride alone, ride with Floy!

April 8, 2009 by

If you have a long commute to and from work, get stuck in heavy traffic, are driven mad by the DJ’s inane ramblings, or just tired of listening to the same 10 songs continually looped on the radio, then fill your iPod with Dr. Floy Lilley (or rather her voice).

There is no longer the need to shell out big bucks for books or laboriously lug around literature; let Dr. Lilley hitchhike and reap the benefits. The Mises Institute and Dr. Lilley have made available a truly remarkable resource and it is absolutely free! Equipped with top quality recording equipment, her books, and her fantastic reading voice, Dr. Lilley has made numerous books and articles available in mp3 format. Many of these recordings are also available on the Mises Institute’s podcast on iTunes.

These are not your typical “books on tape” these are the works of many of the Austrian School’s giants. Giants such as Leonard Reed, Ludwig von Mises, Guido Hulsmann, Tom DiLorenzo, Ron Paul, Henry Hazlitt, and many others, are now only a click away at mises.org. Dr. Lilley’s unmatched dedication has even led her to work tirelessly to on the four volume Conceived in Liberty by her late friend Murray Rothbard, a monumental task by any standard.

This is an incredible opportunity for you to enrich yourself with the knowledge and wisdom of many thousands of pages of text without ever having to pick up a book or suffer eye strain. To date, the Mises Institute has made available over 158 of Dr. Lilley’s recordings. There is something for everyone and simply no excuse for not taking advantage of this incredible and unparalleled resource to become more familiar with the works of the Austrian Schools most notable scholars.

Dr. Lilley has done all the work for you… no need to bother with all that pesky reading, just sit back, touch play, enjoy the drive, and absorb the wisdom.

Dr. Lilley, an attorney and formerly of the University of Texas at Austin’s Chair of Free Enterprise. As if that weren’t enough for one lifetime, she was also a representative to the UN at 22 climate change conferences!

One final note, I recently had the honor of getting to know Dr. Lilley and in doing so I have become thoroughly convinced that her law degree is a forgery; I assure you that no lawyer could possibly be that good of a person.

I’ve been riding with Floy, also. I wanted to just have her say something to me at ASC just to hear her voice in person, but I didn’t bother her. She has been reading me Conceived in Liberty.

Nice post. I’ve listened to many of the articles Floy has read, as well as a lot of the other recordings available through mises.org. They have made my auto travel much more enjoyable and informative. Thanks a bunch for making these available.

Dr. Lilley has certainly been a blessing on my commute. I’ve listened to all her audiobook recordings and eagerly anticipate each new installation of Conceived In Liberty. Her voice is great. The books are great. I look forward to commuting thanks to the myriad of audio available from the Mises Institute. If it wasn’t for these recordings, it probably would have taken me a great deal longer to read (listen to?) Rothbard. They have changed my life, and because they are publicly available for free, I pass the links around every chance I get. I am very grateful to all who were involved in bringing these to us! Thank you!

I’ve been listening to her recordings for some time now. The Conceived in Liberty volumes are monumental! How clear the founding principles are after hearing the full history of the struggles for Liberty.
