Twenty five students from from ten universities in the U.S., Canada, Spain, and Denmark presented papers during the fifth annual Austrian Student Scholars Conference at Grove City College last weekend. First Prize of $1,000 in the contest for best papers went to John Singleton of Colorado University, Denver for his paper, “Rivalrous Competition and the Development of Efficient Legal Institutions.” David Howden of Rey Juan Carlos University won Second Prize of $750 for his paper, “Time Preference and Money: A Dynamic Reappraisal” and Dmitriy Kha of Suffolk University won Third Prize of $500 for his paper, “Hyperinflation Chaos and Its Impact on Economic Calculation: Evidence from the Zimbabwean Experience.” The papers and the outstanding keynote lectures by Ed Stringham and Bob Higgs will be posted soon on the conference webpage.

Hey, Dave’s back
Good work everyone!
The participants in this conference were cheated. Dmitriy Kha, who placed third in the conference, is actually a professor at Suffolk University.

Matt,
I’ve seen many bombastic comments from you on the Austrian Economists blog but this one is by far your most irresponsible.
I am an assistant professor of economics at Suffolk University. Dmitriy Kha is one of Suffolk’s Ph.D. students. In almost every Ph.D. program students will teach undergraduate classes while earning their graduate degree. In fact, at Suffolk it is part of our official program.
Get you facts straight before you make wild accusations such as the above.
Ben
Okay, Ben; I’ll take your word for it. The faculty page has him listed as an “adjuct faculty” and the course listings on his page gives the impression that he regularly teaches courses. The course page misled me; my “accusation” was hardly an exaggeration given the information I was provided with.
I stand corrected. This is a good program and I wish all future participants the best.

Matthew, why don’t you go bark up some other tree, where people actually care about whatever nonsense comes out of your mouth? Or go fall off some cliffside perhaps?
