Alvaro, that wouldn't be a bad idea. What'd be cool is for an economist or two and one of the institute's philosophers to frequent such a site (as well as the existing one) and answer the questions of students of liberty. The current forum is frequented mostly by high school and college students who are still learning the materials themselves, and thus are relatively impatient towards individuals who have not done any of the base reading (nor are willing to) yet want to "debate" Austrian econ. It'd aid the cause of spreading the message of liberty to have a couple of actual specialists on the site.

When I started reading here I couldn't figure out why just reading all the HBR articles wouldn't solve all the world's problems. A lot of us are the result of that glorious pubblic skool education and late learners. As an engineer, you recognize good engineers are the ones who don't believe that everything is easy and works the first time. Congrats on 4000 members. 10s of thousands in the shadows. A few more everyday... Hard not to be optimistic.

Well... how about setting up a beginner's forum where the non congnoscenti can ask "trivial" questions?

The cause of liberty can only benefit if the ideas offered in this site are popularized. Throwing "Human Action" to the curious can hardly encourage them.

BTW, I think that 99% of the world's finance ministers don't know the answers either.

Yes, because a lot of people come on the forum just to "debate" Austrian econ, without the foggiest idea of what it entails. The point is to discuss Austrian ideas, not to spoonfeed everyone who comes on.

I'm extremely impressed at the quality of discussion and the level of debate.

Are you? I'm distinctly unimpressed, to the point that I no longer bother with that forum. Any time someone asks a simple question, they get pounded with "you should have read X and Y and Z and not ask trivial questions" (and then the same respondent with demonstrate that he hasn't read X and Y and Z - or at least hasn't understood them - in the next post :|), and half the posts seem to be crazy lefties harping on about how Hoppe and Rothbard are/were racists and Wrong About Everything... pfah!
