The US had a non-covert “military presence” inside the USSR, going back to 1950? Of 100-1000 troops, if I can distinguish shades of green correctly?

When these military men and women realize that their oathe to protect and defend the Constitution translates into protecting other nations from the totalitarian designs of the unConstitutional coup, in addition to returning to the U.S. to seek out and bring to justice the traitorous ego-driven interventionists; then the map will make sense as the world begins its transition to a classical liberalism civilization.
Why would you want to rule the rest of the world? Just because it’s there?
Let Hollywood educate the world so they all speak your version of English first, then go out and take over. Hollywood will have taught them that you always win, so the ground will have been prepared for you. I think you’ll find it’s a lot harder to administer than you think, but good luck!

From the 2007 data of my own country, if it included embassy marines you would have to triple the number. Non-conclusive, but I don’t think it does include them.
In any case for some countries the number is definitely way below real troops on the ground… check out Mexico and Ecuador! Only counting offical military trainers and advisors… there’s a helluva lot more.
So is your country shaded light green simply because there is a Marine detail at the U.S. embassy in your country? That doesn’t sound so ominous.
This map is irrelevant because it merely shows the presence of military personnel (and it does include marines guarding embassies–e.g. the Soviet union).
A better map would be of the countries where United States troops have actually invaded or fought military conflicts. That would be an eye-opening experience because it includes a very large percentage of the world.
The average American is completely naive about how the “Land of the Free” has been at war with more nations than any country in history. Seriously, folks, the United States has invaded or attacked more nations than anyone else in all of human history–and not only that, the U.S. is still the ONLY nation in history so barbaric as to use nuclear weapons.
So much for the light of Democracy.

As for invading other nations, Australia beats you hands down! Every one of the Aboriginal tribes wants to be called a ‘Nation’, and there are over 300 of those, so we’re bigger invaders than you are! Nya, nya, nya!! (oh, sure, the British invaded them, and handed them over to us at Federation, but it was our ancestors, or relatives, so there!)
I dont know what those ratios mean all i know is that Panama (my country) has been invaded 9 times and we are a peceful country and if you dont belive investigat it, we dont even have an army! and the times they have invaded havent bean peacful. Once they were going to hit a target in a neighborhood and the intel wass was wrong and they destroyed the neighborhood killing hundreds and a couple of guys with crAPPY AK 47S
