Great Search for the Mises Institute!

April 5, 2008 by

March was a record-breaking month for the Mises Institute and goodsearch.com. Your 1430 searches and $12.25 good shopping led to an all-time high monthly donation of $26.55. So far in less than two years your quick searches and shopping has resulted in $181.58 donated to the Mises Institute.

Keep up the great work! Thank you.

Postscript: To begin to good search for LVMI just type “mises” in the “Who do you goodsearch for?” field.

Hu – $181.58? Is it a typo or are you really celebrating total donations of two hundred bucks? ;-)

Gernot: this is just donation money from people pretty much only doing online searches.

Speaking of which, it has never occurred to me that I could goodsearch w/Mises before now.

$200 pays for some excellent scans of, e.g. classic books, or the travel of a student to a conference, or some new software to make the site work better, or a new microphone to better record lectures, or any number of things. So it’s a help!

Congrats on the added funds. If it pays for the scanning of one little-seen book, then that’s gravy!

Speaking of search, and I know this might not be the best place to mention it, but is there any way we can reclaim the Mises site search function?

I feel like the new search options have me jumping from place to place trying to find what I’m looking for. The old site search was great; it incorporated site articles and blog posts and everything under one search. You could easily read the summary under every search result, look at the url, and judge accordingly.

These new “Google site search” displays results in a very small font in a compressed little window. The new “Mises.org site search” breaks things down into neat categories, but it’s a bit overwhelming to scroll through, plus there are no text previews a la Google search results.

Please switch to Google Custom search (which opens up in a full page) or bring back the old search page which worked so well.

you can save time typing in the charity by using this url: http://www.goodsearch.com/?charityid=811036
which is nice if you delete your cookies very often

you can also search directly by modifying this url: http://www.goodsearch.com/Search.aspx?charityid=811036&keywords=von+mises
which can be used in most browsers search bars
