Meet the new Chavez, same as the old one

January 12, 2008 by

During my flight between Seoul and Taipei this week, I read an interesting WSJ piece that sums up the latest cabinet changes in Venezuela.

Unsurprisingly, it appears as if the changes are merely superficial at best as those being promoted are socialists that will continue to utilize interventionism and heavy-handed regulation to manipulate the beleaguered economy.

For instance, “the newly named planning minister wrote a book called ‘Capitalism is Bad Business: Principles for Socialists.’”

Democracy is Disasterous January 12, 2008 at 11:48 am

Democracy is totalitarian rule by the majority. It is actually worse than monarchy as the rulers who are elected by vote use that as a justification to take rights away from the citizenry.

Other than anarchy, the next best thing is the limited government of the 18th century monarch in England. That clown tried to impose a 3% tax on the Colonies and with the result of starting the second to the bloodiest war in US history.

Chavez’s socialist state, brought to you courtesy of capitalist demand for oil.

Actually the taxes imposed on the British colonies were imposed by the parliament. Only parliament has the power to raise and lower taxes.

greeting from the Socialist Republic of Venezuela.

Im glad that there is a post on Venezuela at mises.org. A majority of Venezuelans has rejected the fast way to socialism but we are still on a wellfare state, starting the new year with a new currency, a new flag, less amount of dollars allowed per person (last year we had 3000$ now we have 400$) more inflation and a new time zone all decreed by the president.

What I am glad to tell you is taht many of the libertarians here (a small group by the way) are trying to spread the ideas of liberty, prosperity and peace and also trying to spread the idea of state independence (not secession, sadly). You can visit our webpage at ODLV.org, we have been doing graffitis all over towon with phrases like “capitalism, the real opossition” and “Capitalism, the poor´s hope”. The people on bureaucrash.com have done a small post on us, showing the graffitis we have made.

If you want to come and help us, ur more than wellcome.
