If it does not say US, it is not 100% American catfish, or so says the Catfish Marketing Association, which is just oh so concerned about your health, and also very concerned that that Chinese catfish is about 2/3 cheaper than that raised in Alabama. The CMA was the real power behind the FDA's decision to ban Chinese catfish imports into the US, since, of course, restaurants and grocers have no problem selling food that makes people sick as dogs. Oh and more more thing. The FDA says: "there was no immediate threat to human health" but it did find slight traces of something that when pump into lab rats in massive doses sometimes made them unhappy. Let's hope those lab rats are 100% American too!
