It seems to me that the US government and some big US industries have this "vision" of the future. That vision is "You sell us real goods in return for phoney money, and then you spend that phoney money on phoney (intellectual) properties." so we don't suffer the consequences of our outrageously irresponsible tax and monitary policies. And since most the countries in the world are co-dependent on the US economy in one form or another, and since most tend to care about peoples liberties even less than the US does. Most countries go along with it.

Well, phoney money for phoney properties, is an interesting vision, but unfortunately for the US gov and all it's co-conspirators, people in the real world need real resources and real goods and services. And Russia and China (and even Brazil) are not very comfortable just sitting around while the US sucks away more and more of their economic resources for the sake of saving it's own butt.

Eventually, they are going to tell the US to go to hell out of necissity, and when that happens it will push the reset button on the global economy and trigger political unstability across the globe which will likely lead to world war III as governments become desperate to distract from the problems at home while fighting tooth and nail for the limited amount of real resources.

Funny how a Russian news agency has its own way of putting things. Sure, European newspaper may be also biased... but here, they say before the meeting it seemed the US gave clear signals it would renounce to stronger prosecution of IP violation and give up the claims to opening of the Russian banking sector. Meanwhile Russia had announced it would lower their own agricultural subsides while allowing the Russian insurance business to open up. Georgian neighbors pulled back too, as it seems they were not happy about Russian policies either… and don't forget tariffs that are raised on planes flying over Russian territory.

So it seems after all the US is not the last country that will have to give its OK.

A French paper mentioned… it is the backwards move on "democracy" (Ioukos?) which leads to some American critic.

A consequence of the failure in this negotiation anyways seems to be that the WTO liberalization politic in general is being all the more questioned however.
