Christian Right Converts to Gaia Worship?

March 10, 2005 by

The National Association of Evangelicals is considering a federal lobbying effort promoting government action against global warming. Top officials of the group have decided that the Bible mandates responsible stewardship of the Earth, energy use is causing catastrophic global climate change, and therefore the government should be given more power to control energy use in hopes of cooling the planet. Apparently, some red statists think God has endorsed Pigou’s market failure framework.

Rev. Rich Cizik, an NAE official, compares emitting carbon dioxide (a plant fertilizer) to having an abortion. “We’re not adverse to government-mandated prohibitions on behavioral sin such as abortion,” he said. “We try to restrict it. So why, if we’re social tinkering to protect the sanctity of human life, ought we not be for a little tinkering to protect the environment?” [See the full report in the NYT.]

There will always be those who twist. Just let them twist in the wind. Living systems in evolution reveals the evolving 4.5 billion years of the organism. Though the arrogance of the human specie will perhaps be the cause of their own demise. The organism will continue regardless of the stupidity of one particular specie. It has evolved for 4.5 billion years and will continue its evolution. Earth The Organic>/a> should be read not only by scientists but all those in search for information, knowledge which leads to wisdom.

Concerning the “false christs” and “false prophets” of the end-times is says, “…so as to mislead, if it were possible, even the very elect would be deceived” (Mt 24:24). Concerning the Mystery Babylon Great Harlot Religion of Rev 17, it says a neo-paganism (which historically has centered around the ancient worship of nature) will promote a world government (or to be more precise, the movement toward world government will promote the pagan [Gaia] worship until its power is secured).

As a libertarian and a conservative Christian, I repudiate the National Association of Evangelicals. Their concern about global warming is unscientific and unscriptural.

Unscriptural?

Yeah, what was that Flood all about, then?

Slipped in the NYT article was an interesting aside: global warming causes warming. Nothing about how, except that farther down, we help Jesus by helping the poor avoid global warming. You following all this?

And if measures to alleviate global warming should happen to make anybody poorer: (a) you won’t be able to tell exactly whom (nor will they); and (b) it’ll have untold other millions from poverty by whatever means they didn’t disclose above.

You won’t be able to tell who THEY are, either. But it WON’T be YOU.
