Brian Martin has written an interesting book Information Liberation. I’m not sure of his politics, but he’s identified several interesting problems regarding information. Rather than advocating State-fixes, he advocates technological solutions to many of the problems he sees.

From the author:
“In order to bring about a more just and equal society, struggles need to be waged over information.”
I agree with this statement to a degree. If we have a secretive government then it can exercise much more corruption. However, the truth of the matter is that the ultimate government corruption is right in front of our faces. The IRS, fiat currency, interventionist policies at the workplace etc. Therefore, in my opinion we already have enough evidence in order to justify doing away with government. The problem is interpretation of this evidence.
For instance a great number of people recognize that the U.S. dollar is unbacked. But what they do not realize are the implications of this. They don’t understand that the Fed keeps inflating their currency and by doing so steals their wealth. It is for this reason that I believe we should help people recognize the implications of the information that is already in front of us, instead of going on some crusade to dig up dirt on some bureaucrats.
Brian Martin is a communist anarchist a la Kropotkin.
Richard,
Thanks for he fyi. It’s too bad he’s a communist anarchist, but the book is still interesting.
