Bob Murphy in Chinese

December 6, 2011 by

Congratulations to Bob Murphy, whose book Lessons For The Young Economist just came out in Chinese, sans Chapter 16.

The author writes on Facebook, “My Chinese contact tells me their government took out Chapter 16. I’m guessing it’s because I said the Communist Chinese killed 65 million of their own people. I should have worded it more softly.”

Clearly that sentence isn’t the only reason for getting rid of chapter 16 altogether because why not dedact that particular sentence but publish chapter 16 anyway?

Go Murphy, not only are you published in Chinese. You were so radical they took out an entire chapter XD

On a semi-related note, does anybody know what happened to Bob Murphy’s webpage?

It was apparently abandoned, taken down by the host, or the hosting fees became too long overdue…

Maybe next time he can bury chapter 16, “The Failures of Socialism”, within a chapter called, “The Failures of Representative Government”. That might fool the censors. Maybe the censors get lazy like all other government bureaucrats and just read the title and skim the chapter.

Having seen Chinese bureaucrats in action, that probably would actually work.

Bob Murphy does have a new website and new name for his blog, I saw it I believe a couple of days ago on a Mises blog. Apologies for not remembering the link.
