“Politics is entertainment.”

Those are words of veteran Republican political consultant Roger J. Stone Jr. who is lending a hand to stand-up comedian Steve Berke who is running for mayor of Miami Beach.

Berke is described by The New York Times as,”a libertarian member of his so-called After Party.”

Berke is campaigning on a platform to lower taxes, decriminalize marijuana, end political corruption, and so on…the usual stuff.

However, the former college tennis champion has assembled an impressive army of campaign operatives that make his strategy unusual.

The election is Tuesday.

On what basis is he “libertarian”? The campaign issue which he chose to put foremost is ending “Urban Beach Weekend” on the grounds that it “disrespects the military.”

So we can look forward to all those lovely models participating in a government-approved festival of state-worship? What exactly is libertarian about that?
