A nation of Rothbardians?

I am more than convinced that the country has not turned anarchist (yet). They distrust the people who control those institutions, not the institutions per se.
If only…unfortunately they advocate even more government involvement, and measures that borderline support public hangings of the wealthy.
At the present moment, it doesn’t appear that it is becoming a nation of Rothbardians.
However, such disgust with government does *open the door* for people to give Rothbardian ideas a hearing. It surely is more of an opportunity compared to when people are immersed in the wealth effect and totally closed off.
Half of the 89% that distrust the government to do the right thing are worried that the government will cut Social Security, Medicaid and Medicare; fully half of those are worried that the government won’t give them free college tuition and free cable, water, and power.
Two thirds of the 74% that think the country is on the wrong track are irritated about “illegal immigration” and pulling troops OUT of Iraq.
89% of the people say they distrust the government but I really don’t believe they do.
If they did Ron Paul would win this Presidential election by a landslide.
Most just distrust government when the economy is in the shitter. They don’t realize that recessions/depressions lag on because of government interference. Poll these same people during an artificial boom and they will over overwhelmingly trust the government.
Actually if they did truly distrust government then nobody would turn up at voting booths.
