“The Good One vs. the Bad One”

September 24, 2011 by

That’s what Klaus Bernpaintner tells me the Mises Institute of Sweden called this article, summarizing my debate with Karl Smith. They weren’t choosing sides, just neutrally reporting on this photo they assembled from the YouTube of the debate:

I don’t think they doctored the above…You can draw your own conclusions from the halo and horns.

Lol @the horns. Fantastic coincidence…

Watching it now, excellent stuff. Hopefully there is much more like this to come!

The state may be evil incarnate, but not Karl Smith. It may be “gentle ribbing” to us, but he may be insulted and refuse more debates. Neo-Keynsians who whore themselves out to warmongers deserve ridicule. Smith deserves better. His politeness reminded me of Ludwig von Mises.

Let us not forget that Block was a former Chicago-ite and Hoppe a former socialist. Who knows where Smith may end up considering his current young age.

I was thinking the same thing. Even though this was made in jest it still seems like bad form.
Mises.org is classier than this (at least I like to think so!).

Are you guys kidding me? You think the guy who wrote this is going to be insulted by the above?

Matthew Swaringen September 25, 2011 at 11:36 am

No, I don’t think so at all, this is definitely a pretty funny coincidence.

I found that witty and not insulting humor with no trace of sarcasm.

My apologies. You are correct, Bob. The Swedes were mild compared to Karl’s metaphors:

Now on Friday that hero – me – will vanquish the great evil and send the demon Austrians back into the hellfire from whence they came.

Wait a minute… Since I am one of Satan’s minions I should not feel the need to apologize.

Long live the fallen angels: Murphy, Hoppe, Rothbard, etc.

I am thinking that next time Bob Murphy should debate Adam Marx.

That’s hilarious. There was something very familiar about his name but I couldn’t figure it out, until your post.
