We do not live in a Nation of laws but in a Nation of men. What is happening to Gibson Guitars is nothing new. Ayn Rand called it the “Aristocracy of Pull.” Somebody,somewhere wants to get Gibson. Follow the money trail to find out who and why. If I was the CEO of Gibson,I would hire investigators to find out who,why,where and for what reason I was being harassed. I would also assemble a legal team to investigate and sue all involved and to set up a defense strategy to go on the offensive. They can also use the Media to get favorable publicity. If necessary embarrass some people. Somewhere the truth will come out. This is the only thing that can be done to fight this kind of corruption.

I was just thinking, its these stupid laws that destroy the forests that these laws are trying to protect. If I were to set up an operation where I got ebony seeds and tried to farm them in the US, I’d be arrested. Instead, the only way to get them is via questionable slash and burn methods. It’s not beyond reason to build a facility in, say, Florida to farm Makassar wood which fetched a high price, but various environmental restrictions kill this method of both saving a species and making money legitimately.
