This is such an obvious idea that I’m sure Washington would never implement it.

I first had this idea myself when reading the “History of Money and Banking in the United States.” It was interesting to learn that in colonial times, there were many currencies that were circulated in the colonies. These currencies included silver and gold coins from other countries, but these same coins often disappeared when other, less valuable, currencies were mandated by the government. In the case of government mandates, Gresham’s Law predicts that the bad money will drive away the good.

I’ve often found myself wondering what alternate forms of money might emerge if the government allowed competing currencies. Airline miles or credit card points come to mind, but a company like Amazon, Mastercard or Paypal could just as easily invent their own “points” system that would function well as money.

I look forward to reading this book and the many others that LvMI continues to post in epub format. My only real problem with these books is that LvMI keeps posting them faster than I can read them. Keep up the good work guys.
