No, that irony is not lost on me – it was intended. With greater and more centralized power, we rightly would expect more oppressive regimes and also (more) wars. The European Union may be advertised as a “peace project,” but that is hardly what drives its politicians (or its peoples). It is about power, and that’s what this post is about. They are pushing to increase it on all fronts, ever more fiercely, and the only thing we can expect from it is greater oppression. And, in due time, wars to claim greater territories (when expansion of the “union” gets too difficult or is too slow). The State needs to grow.

The irony of the headline that seems lost on its author is that the goal of the EU is to preserve and extend a peace that collapse into catastrophic war twice over the last century, killing scores of millions.

Really? European troops are at Afghanistan and they are bombing Libya. Of course they have much less capability to do that than the Empire, but nevertheless we don’t shy away from bombing the brown people…

Luckily (or at least hopefully), the fact that the central politburo in Brussels is fairly new means we still have maybe a decade or so to revolt. I sincerely hope that Britain, or Germany, or Finland, or Slovakia or any other country that has been not-so-happy about recent policy kicks it up a notch and threatens secession. Interesting how you have to call it secession, since we are all vassal states at this point….

Well, “Europe” is not a war with anyone [as opposed to other hard-federated entities I know, which are engaged in 6 wars at a time] so why this headline?
