Lew Rockwell sums it up:
Eric Garris passes along the very sad news that Alan has died after a long struggle with cancer. A Freedom Newspapers journalist in the Hoiles tradition, Alan was the spirit of the Orange Country Register editorial page. He wrote four books, was a principled defender of liberty, and was a devout and good man. God rest his great soul.
I didn’t know Alan Bock well, but I knew him well enough to know he was the sort of person who was more concerned with liberty and the ideas of liberty than with making a name for himself. He was always polite and professional. For those of us who came to the libertarian movement in the 1990s, he was very important as one of the few consistent and well-established voices against interventionism throughout the 90s and into the post-9/11 world.
