I purchased a 4 lb box of TSP last weekend and last night was the first time for me to try it out in the washing machine. I do yoga about four times a week, and since the yoga studio is heated, I do my fair share of sweating.
I use yoga mat covers, head bands, clothing and towels. All of them have stunk for months, no matter how much detergent I used. During the summer, one of the teachers recommended that we soak our mat covers in vinegar to neutralize the odor. I tried that once, and it sort of worked, but it wasn’t worth the hassle.
After reading your article on Trisodium Phosphate, I was skeptical that it would get my clothes as clean as you described. However, I was wrong. By adding a teaspoon to the wash, my yoga mat cover, clothes and towels all smelled……. CLEAN!
I compared the clean clothes with the yoga stuff still in the dresser and there was no comparison. My gear was brighter, and it all smelled brand new. I plan to share some of my stash with my yoga teachers and encourage them to add the secret ingredient.
I’ve loved Mises.org for years but never did I think you would help me do the laundry.
