Great Public Choice comments from 11:33-12:13.
Come on Art! “In an ideal world, given that we’re going to pay taxes…..” No! In an ideal world, we would not have government agents stealing from us on any pretext. In and ideal world there would be no taxes given, or rather taken. Furthermore, there are no such things as “public goods” that the free market, as opposed to government using force, would have trouble providing, unless it was a good that the people didn’t want. Your understanding and confidence in the free market could use a little bracing.
Oh, yeah, I neglected to say that taxing to succor the poor is one of the worst possible justifications for taxation. Not only does it corrupt the poor by succoring them with stolen goods and making them dependent on the use of force to obtain their daily bread at the cost of their freedom and integrity, but it also corrupts taxpayers and the general population by appearing to relieve individuals of their responsibility for caring for the poor with their own resources as opposed to OPM (sounds like opium, is equally addicting, stands for other people’s money). Jesus’ parable of the Good Samaritan is emphatic regarding our obligation to our less-fortunate neighbors. Everything the Good Samaritan did for the man who fell among robbers and was left to die on the roadside was done explicitly and emphatically with the Good Samaritan’s own personal resources. After telling the parable, Jesus instructed the ambiguous lawyer to “go and do likewise.”
Pretty incredible that the host of TV show for a popular network is getting away with saying such radical things.
Stealing.
Counterfeiting.
Bribery.
Killing.
These are all done by those who have no moral authority but who have the power of coercion. As soon as enough realize that these criminals have no moral authority the State will undergo an upheaval and it is our job to make sure that the revolutionary change does not include the State.
Art, it is spending on the poor that is driving us bankrupt, not the sweetheart deals with corporations, no matter how corrupt they are as well. Judge Napolitano sounded more radical than Art. I was hoping for the anarchist on the nationally televised show.
Is it me, or does it seem like Art is reading his responses from a teleprompter?
good interview. too short, tho.
The government is in every part of our business now. It was never meant for government to tax income. Income is an exchange for labor. They were to tax profits only. It’s no surprise that all our tax money is used for everything other than what it’s supposed to be for.
