Meeting #1 of my “Capitalism and Socialism” class is now in the books. I’ll admit that it was just a little bit weird talking to my webcam and seeing myself on screen took just a bit of getting used to, but I think the interface was excellent (and intuitive), Danny Sanchez did a great job running the technological show, and the students asked fantastic questions. Later in the course, we might have a discussion of “military socialism,” or socialization of the means of protection.
Here’s the thing that blows me away. I was able, from my office in Memphis, to teach a 90 minute session on capitalism and socialism with technological administration done from Taiwan and students from (at least) the US, Canada, and the Czech Republic (at least, those are the ones who checked in). Thanks, everyone, for a great experience, and I’m really excited about what innovations like the Mises Academy are going to do for education.

It’s so remarkable. Any experience of this and you realize, ok, this is the future.
The future is a progression so rapid from here it’s completely beyond my imagining. I have been working in the IT field for 12 years, the pace is still accelerating on the bleeding edge.
