This subject tiptoes on the edge of “social metaphysics”, the idea that a person takes someone else’s life and values and very reason for living as justification for their own. I think it’s a human being’s regress to the herding ‘instinct’ and exposure to the light of reason (I know, corny) will help.

What I find interesting is nothing to do with the blog. It’s the price of the book. Almost double the $ of a printed version. Hmmmmm. Does the IP argument have anything to do with this? I’m not an intellectual, just a tight ass. And an old fart. I’ll still take the comfort of that book in my hand over the convenience of fast food…….for half! But that’s just me. And I say this unaware that anyone else might feel the same that anyone else might feel the way that I feel about that.

I have noticed the trend, among the general populace, to question the wisdom and motives of our finanial elite since 2008. Soon the masses will wake up and kick the bums out. I hope they pick a better class of leaders than what we are subjected to now.

With luck we can end the Fed on its centennial. Ron Paul has the forum and the power to educate voters. Both parties refuse to curb spending trillions every year. Bernanke refuses to let the market set interest rates. If oil goes to $150-200 per barrel and stays there voters might choose silver and gold instead of paper. The paper dollar will join the continental in fiat currency history.

Thanks for the article. A nice articulation and synthesis of thoughts/feelings I’ve been having the last few years. Somehow I’m a Pollyanna and Chicken Little at the same time. Chicken Little because I’m convinced the current Fed system and fractional reserve banking can only end in collapse. Pollyanna because I think the internet and the ability to instantly distribute uncensored information will hasten this collapse, and that will ultimately be a good thing.

Thanks you! Superb article that articulates a phenomenon with which most people would readily agree but would rarely consciously articulate (similar to the fish not being able to describe water metaphor). One caution I would offer for your future audiences: An inherent danger of being able to readily distribute a contentious message broad and wide to the masses is that if everyone believes everyone else is now aware of the problem, most people tend to take a passive stance and assume that “someone else with more influence or power” must be doing something about this problem. And I assure you the Fed is banking on this passive human tendency to maintain its grip on our economy. I am a volunteer board member of a neighborhood homeowners’ association, and it never ceases to amaze at how passive and reticent most people actually are to take action to resolve a common problem that everyone recognizes as a problem. The Japanese recognized and capitalized on this phenomenon within their jungle prison camps during WW II. They were able to contain thousands of prisoners with only dozens of guards and bamboo fences by isolating the top five percent of the prisoners who showed signs of leadership and aggression. Once separated, they were able to contain the other passive thousands as lone shepherds contain thousands of sheep.

Right on! Often I have felt reserved about expressing opinions counter to the liberal leanings of my peers. Lately I thought that as I got older I was less concerned about the opinions of those who claimed to be among the “elite”. But this article made me realize that my confidence is augmented by understanding that I am not alone–perhaps not even in the minority, among true “Americans”.

Loved the article. Sometimes I feel like Chicken Little and it’s good to be reminded that our ranks are growing. Reading this brought to mind an Andrea Dworkin quote: “The genius of any slave system is found in the dynamics which isolate slaves from each other, obscure the reality of a common condition, and make united rebellion against the oppressor inconceivable.” Thanks for one more step away from isolation.
