No! It’s already over. Ah well, I’ll wait to see what’s coming next. For you guys who took the course, did it touch on the stories of american Indians and their struggle against colonialism. I’ve learned at school, and on various movies, that the “white man” basically annihilated their culture by killing almost all of them. But it was in an effort to pursue the American Dream. I wounder what is the perspective of traditional Austrians on the matter. Any readings would be well appreciated as well. Thanks

Wow, Mr. Woods! I’m envious of your students! To get such a solid grounding in American History from an Austrian/Libertarian viewpoint, and get so much intellectual ammunition against the “major” party statists are truly blessed! I’d have loved to get such an education when I was in my 20′s!(1980′s)..LOL Oh well, it’s a good sign that the truth is finally getting out!
I have informally educated myself by reading books such as Meltdown,(Great book, too bad the politicians aren’t following the solutions in the book!), America’s Great Depression by Rothbard, Economics in One Lesson, to mention a few that stand out. Keep putting out the word!

Good point. There are more than 1600 pages among those four volumes. Further, the description for the fourth suggests that the period covered ends at about the time that the action of the Federalists began to pick up momentum. Perhaps that is Rothbard's sense of humor at work: The project was Conceived in Liberty, but then along came some abortion doctors called Federalists. If you want to know what Rothbard thought of the omitted period, see Lysander Spooner's No Treason, No. 1 at http://lysanderspooner.org. Rothbard was very sympathetic to Spooner's commentary on the Federalists and their craftsmanship. Another related work is Rothbard's A History of Money and Banking in the United States: The Colonial Era to World War II. It plays smashmouth football against conservatives' prejudices that the revolt was a purely noble one. It also has a crash course in Gresham's law in the 1st chapter, as I recall.

Usually there is one webcam for the lecturer and everyone chats on the side. You login to the website when it is time and attend the class. The lectures are recorded so you can view it later. Also there is a discussion forum and plenty of opportunities to post questions.

I am curious. What is the reading material for “American Origins: From the Colonies to the Constitution”? In what way would Rothbard’s Conceived in Liberty be part of this eight week course?
