February 7, 2011 by

Have a look at the preliminary schedule for the Austrian Scholars Conference 2011. It’s going to be as great as ever. It is already legendary for being a riveting intellectual experience and an excellent chance for scholars to meet and greet for three days of enjoyable time at the Mises Institute.

  • Mises Lecture: Helio Beltrao, Mises Institute Brazil
  • Hazlitt Lecture: David Stockman, former budget director of Reagan administration
  • Hayek Lecture: William Butos, Trinity College
  • Rothbard Lecture: Philipp Bagus, University Rey Juan Carlos in Madrid
  • Church lecture: Mustafa Akyol, Turkish Daily News

While I am not a theist, the Lou Church lecture is my favorite each year. Big shoes for Mustafa Akyol to fill following dynamic speakers like Daniel Lapin and Gerard Casey.

Let’s hope we can can watch Mustafa Akyol either live via streaming or afterwards. The stimulating talks given during the Austrian Scholars Confererence always lays a firm foundation for intellectual exploration for months afterwards, leading up to the next great Austrian Scholars Conference. It is beautiful cycle of learning provided by the Mises Institute.

Akyol gave a fantastic speech at the Property and Freedom Society annual meeting last year, Are Islam and Capitalism Compatible? (video).
