It’s garbage, for crying out loud

January 27, 2011 by

I say I’m nosy, my wife says I’m bitter. She’s probably right. Regardless, our township contracts out residential refuse and garbage removal. All residents are required to pay for the service, whether they use it or not. The current contract was about to end so the township sent it out for bid.

Since I am nosy (my view), I wanted to see what recycling nonsense is in the official legal notice to bidders. So I made a public records request for the legal notice and similar documents.

There is a recycling requirement for the successful bidder, and it appears the township trustees can consider the recycling response when selecting the “lowest responsive and responsible bidder.”

In addition, there is the standard requirement for each bidder to provide a “Contract Performance Bond or Performance Cash Deposit” within 10 days of being awarded the contract.

But then there is this language:

Per R.C. Section 2909.33, the successful bidder will be required to certify that it does not provide material assistance to any organization on the United States Department of State terrorist exclusion list, which list may be found on the Ohio Homeland Security web site at: http://www.homelandsecurity.ohio.gov/. Certification shall be made by completing a Declaration Regarding Material Assistance/No Assistance to a Terrorist Organization form.

It’s garbage, for crying out loud.

I never thought I’d see the day when terms like “homeland security” and “exclusion lists” became part of the everyday language. And concerning garbage contracts, for crying out loud!

I’m sure some window-licking, mouth-breathing statist will eventually use this crap to justify some even more outrageous crap, and say something like, “These universal, mandatory ID bracelets are no big deal. The government’s been using exclusion lists to protect the homeland for years, so it’s not like there isn’t a legal precedent for them. How else are we supposed to know who’s a terrorist?”

They (terrists) could use garbage trucks to transport the gold stolen from the NY federal reserve

They plan on sinking it in the Hudson River, but luckily, we have Bruce Willis to defeat them.

You’re being unpatriotic and unamerican! You’re dutiful subservience is paramount to your patriotism to the fatherland! Americans must take pride in their garbage, otherwise you’re letting the british, french, spanish, mexicans, indians, germans, communists, koreans, vietnamese, iranians, iraqis, drug cartels, terrorists win!

I’m pretty sure if I was clever enough to weaponize banana peels and used coffee filters, I’d also be clever enough to certify that I wasn’t doing it. So on top of being obnoxious, the certification is also absolutley useless.

Phinn January 28, 2011 at 1:33 pm

The certification is only “useless” if you assume its purpose is to prevent terrorism.

Certifications makes perfect sense, however, if we admit that the purpose of them is to condition people to reflexively submit certifications that they are in compliance with exclusion lists.

I’ll bet “They” prefer the”Performance Cash Deposit” method. That will probably be the “most responsable & RESpONSIVE” bidder.

States inviting Homeland Security to set up shop in their domain is a strong piece of evidence that totalitarianism is knocking at the door!

No giving our garbage to the terrorists!!!

If the terrorists get our garbage, they win!!

Speaking of garbage, I nominate “Homeland Security” as not only the most communistic sounding term this government has ever come up with, but also as the single biggest piece of garbage.

dont have a site just me. i have to pay 36.00 mo for trash ans(recycling) even though i have at my business a 5x5x15ft dumpster. i have never used the countys service how is that for being unconstitutional. if this is lawful then the county can tell me where to shop for food gas or anything else.however i have not the funds to fight it. it is a TAX but they avoid this by forcing direct pmt to the trash haulers. we have a law in our state that tax increases must be voted in by the people but the subvert this by direct pmt. i wonder how much money passed under the table from the trash haulers to the politicians to get this done?????the country is caving in(we are so screwed)

@Shane

I was wondering if the questionnaire that we – puzzled “aliens” – always used to fill out, before entering the US 20 years ago as tourists, still mentions the same questions:

A. Are you a member of the communist party?
B. Do you swear you will not attempt to kill the president of the USA?

I always thought this was part of the famous “psychological war” that the CIA and Heart-of-Darkness-Colonel-Kurt had been so famously using against their enemies abroad, as reported in all newspaper.
