Suprisingly, both Hayek and Mises said, on separate occasions, of course, that reading Menger’s Principles made an economist of them. Hayek also noted that reading Mises’ Socialism turned him from his fabianism. Menger seems to take a silent, fundamental but still very important role in the modern Austrian paradigm. Without him, you have no Böhm-Bawerk, Mises, Hayek or Rothbard!
