Krugman ramps up the false attacks on Ron Paul

December 19, 2010 by

I guess that we are going to see a lot of invective against Ron Paul from Paul Krugman and the NY Times, given Rep. Paul’s coming oversight position over the Federal Reserve. In a blog post today, Krugman deliberately misrepresents Rep. Paul’s views on money, and I jump on it. (I also quote liberally from Robert Wenzel’s excellent post on the same subject.)

It certainly figures that Paul Krugman would be disturbed by Dr. Paul’s upcoming position overseeing the FED on monetary policy. That’s because there is no one on earth more qualified for the job as Dr. Paul is well versed on how much liberty has been lost from the immoral monetary policies of the Federal Reserve.Krugman is a professed Keynesian and socialist. But he’s no dummy and he knows full well the shennanigans going on at the central bank which is why he wants to keep the secret from the populace. He also knows the FED will implode on its own if the American people ever really find out what goes on there – especiall the immoral transfer of wealth from the U.S. to lazy countries the world over.I for one can not stand the sight of Paul Krugman, and I am going to stop now before I say something about him unbecoming of content for this site.

What the hell is a “lazy country”?

I would have to agree. I’ve been around for almost 30 years now and I have yet to see the United States pick up off the North American Continent and move anywhere.

and what “wealth” is being transfered from the US to these so-called lazy countries? You mean FED funny money?

Sit Back And Understand Economics – Ron Paul on CSPAN! ( http://www.lewrockwell.com/blog/lewrw/archives/73546.html )

In two 12-minute segments Ron Paul fields questions about the economy since he is now the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Domestic Monetary Policy.

Congressman Paul is atypical. He is a scholar of classical liberalism and so he can explain what is going on, in contrast to the typical politician who has a few ‘sayings’ without any authentic understanding of economics.

The deeper the questions go the more revealing is the depth of knowledge shared by Congressman Ron Paul. But he is a very humble man and his intention is to educate others and so he answers the questions with a clarity that will amaze and thrill and educate those who hear him speak.

Great link, thanks! I wish I had RP’s patience. I would have told that guy with the glasses to go F himself, more or less, but I’m getting better.

A Statesman Like Ron Paul Knows How To Answer Questions.

I thought it was interesting how Ron Paul didn’t waste his time correcting their (probably deliberate) distortions of historical circumstances or even their misrepresentations of what he previously said. At every instant he was educating the audience. He systematically and wisely attacked the ideology of statism and provided an easy avenue for the audience to switch to a new ideology, that ideology being the liberty and justice and peace of classical liberalism.

What about official Ron Paul response to Krugman, preferably by writing to NYT?
Would they publish it?

Another RP statement: “Tax credits are not spending, they are not earmarks, they are not pork: they merely allow people to keep more of their own money.” – RP

Predictable that a “Useful Idiot” like Mr. Krugman would denigrate a Statesman (and that’s in caps for a reason) like Dr. Paul. No totalitarian worth his Dacha could abide a free-market scholar speaking freely, nor could he pass on any opportunity, no matter how contrived, to press his talking points. The unreformed Statist in Mr. Krugman consistently conflates “Free Markets”, which he appears to loathe, with “Capitalism”, which he pretends to also loathe. In reality, every economic position Mr. Krugman has ever espoused leads directly to that unholy marriage of Corporatism and Government most commonly known as Fascism. In that, his consistency is to be admired, if not emulated.

Who has seen today’s Krugman screed? Ron Paul, Krugman posits, occupies the seat at the forefront of Zombie economics, economics that have failed this country and, by extension, the world and brought about the present crisis. Krugman expresses bafflement that as the crisis deepens, more and more people – zombies, in other words – are attracted to this school of economics.

Now, as usual, I find the comments field following a Krugman column far more interesting than the Krugman column itself. Few brook dissent with the Krug. Almost every comment oozes fawning praise for the Krug and condemnation for the “zombies”. You see, in zombie-like fashion, the acolytes of Krugman immediately latch themselves to whatever new not-exactly-original buzz-word Krugman has fashioned in his column, “Zombie economics” only following in the footsteps of Krugman triumphs like “Freshwater economics”. In any case, it struck me as hilariously ironic the great heights this zombie-like adoration reached in the comments section.

Anyway, I was convinced. The free market gave us the crisis. The elites love the free market because, mechanism unexplained, they’re able to accumulate more money that way. The government is shrinking, not growing. “The thing is, Paul, you write for people who, by and large, think.” You must be talking about me. I think. “The great majority of voters don’t think. They get their thinking done for them by a vast right-wing propaganda machine.” Must eat brains.

People who admire this “public intellectual”, if the NYT comments section is any indication, do so because it flatters their own narrow-minded view of economic action. Landon, above, neatly encapsulates the consequences of that view: corporatism.

Now we know why the Nobel Prize was awarded to such a propagandist!

Ron Paul needs to start promoting the Murphy/Krugman debate. If he started bringing it up in all the interviews he does, Krugman would have to respond. The donations are already around 60k. If Ron Paul started talking about the debate then that number could soar. Dr. Murphy’s great idea and this sudden Krugman obsession with Ron Paul could be utilized.
