Using the Mises Catalog with Android

August 23, 2010 by

The new Mises Stanza Catalog works equally well with Android, when using the great Aldiko e-reader app.  Here are some screenshots to demonstrate how to add the Mises.org catalog and how it looks in Aldiko.

Thanks. I was not sure how to use it with Aldiko.

For some reason I can not read the PDF book “Economics and the Public Welfare” by Benjamin Anderson on my Droid. Works OK on my home computer, by not the phone. I have other PDF’s from the Mises.org site that work great on the phone, but not this one. This book comes up with the pages blank and a big red X on each of them. So, I was excited about this app but to my disappointment can not download the book from the general “All Authors(500+)” section. It just turns into a white screen after the download attempt. Any suggestions as to why this is the case.

I just found out that Aldiko does not support PDF. I have updated the catalog to correctly specify the mime type, so the reader can decide whether to support it.

Awesome! Thanks for the update, I’ll never be lacking reading material again!

I just got an eInk-based reader; it supports PDF and epub, and I’m looking forward to trying out both types of mises.org ebooks on it.

Absolutely amazing. Technology has no limits and this is a wonderful opportunity. And wantto add that According to the internet, Stanza can export to MobiPocket format, which is readable by Kindle. If you have problems with Stanza, you can try Calibre instead.

This deserves a $10,000 donation. I’ll try to earn $10,000 to donate. But then I’d have to pay $5,000 to the genocidal state. And then I’d need to earn another $10,000. And pay another $5,000 to the genocidal state.

I love the Idea.
But I cannot access the books in *.epub format.
When I hit “All epub Books” in the catalog it (the phone) tells me that it can’t find anything.
I tried Aldiko, Moon+ Reader and Mantano on my Google Nexus (Android), with the same results.
Ont the web site I can choose between the formats, however in the apps it is not possible? When I hit “”download” I “only” get the pdf’s on my phone.
Thank you!
