Two terabytes of Mises.org torrented

June 18, 2010 by

We have just passed 2 terabytes in uploaded Mises.org content since I announced the 2.0 version of the Mises Torrents this Tuesday.  The total data uploaded is actually a little over twice that number because users upload while they download.  I can see 49 people sharing copies of the Mises Books collection right now.

While I hope that the Mises Institute will remain the center of free-market thinking for a long time to come, it is encouraging to know that no matter what happens to Mises.org, there are many complete copies of our content out there to continue and build on that work.   Imagine all the countless works in countless libraries that are gone forever because they were burnt, discarded, or lost before the digital age made cheap and infinite copies possible.

Now all we need is for humans to awaken their entrepreneurial spirit and become alert to the vital and thrilling subject of economics, that is, one that is based on the subjectivist methodology.

We hope that in the near future our plans for setting up a Mises Library will materialize. Meanwhile I’ll setup a server to add to the torrent storm. :)

This is so amazingly heroic. Kudos to all of you.

And no offense, IP advocates of restrictions on information and learning.

David, I am downloading the files right now. Unfortunately I do not have the HD space for the media files (132 GB), but I will download and seed the rest. Looking at the size of the other torrents, just under 15 GB, I did have a thought that the nicest thing to put them on would be a 16 or 32 GB* flash drive the the Mises logo on it. That would look really nice on my keychain.

Just an idea, for others who are bandwidth constrained, the data could be preloaded on the drive for an extra donation. (Insert quote about station wagon, tapes and bandwidth here).

*32 GB to allow room to store 2011

Thanks so much Mises. I’ll be seeding this permanently.
