Grassroots for Mises

June 11, 2010 by

The advent of the Internet and online forums seemed to have made old-fashioned meet-up groups obsolete. The truth is that reading groups are still very relevant, especially when they take advantage of what websites like Mises.org can offer. FULL ARTICLE by Jonathan M. Finegold Catalan

When I saw the ad for the Mises Pub Glasses in _this_ article I laughed, then smiled at the keen product placement. Whoever chooses what ad for which Mises product to place in these articles is a clever person.

We just started a as-yet-unamed libertarian reading group here in Boise, ID as well. I know two of the members will be using eReaders and pulling the .pdf files off the Mises site as they are broke college students. Had this been available to me when I attended college years ago this perhaps would have saved me years of un-schooling as I got back to my libertarian roots. What a great service Mises offers members of the Liberty movement.

I live in OC, CA. Is there anything like that up here? If there isn’t a list of reading groups here on mises.org (is there), that might be a useful resource for those looking.

I live in OC too. As far as I know, such a group doesn’t exist up here. I suppose we could start one.

What part of OC? I’m in Fullerton. Got any ideas for a location or other friends that might be into it? We could start with something modest, maybe once a month and see how it goes.

I live in Tustin. We should definitely start one. I don’t know how we’d get the word out to other OC people, though.

Nate, G.S. Thursday,

North OC okay for you guys? I think I can find a place and maybe a couple extra people to start.

Great piece Jonathan! The cafe with Austrian books sounds really exciting. I hope the idea spreads.
