I’m looking at employment status of the civilian population by sex and age, not seasonally adjusted, March 2009 to March 2010
Overall: 9.0 to 10.2
Men over 16: 10.6 to 11.8
Men over 20: 9.9 to 11.2
Women over 16: 7.3 to 8.3
Women over 20: 6.9 to 7.1
Both sexes 16-19: 21.5 to 22.0
It’s a heck of a time to have raised minimum wages three years in a row.
Here is Mankiw’s comparison between stimulus prediction vs. reality.

You know, ever since Obama was in charge of the economy, LESS worse than exepected = Better, LOL !!!! You gotta love the kooky left media spin.
Imagine the effect of Obamacare will have on unemployement and economic growth. God save us all !!! It’s 1939 all over again !!!
Not to mention Cap and Trade.
More important than unemployment is the employment number. Unemployment is manipulated.
March 2009 139,833 59.5%
March 2010 138,905 58.6%
Greater than 40% are not employed and the number is growing.
BTW these numbers is a good illustration ( not a proof of course) of Austrian Theory.
Male unemployment is higher and grows faster than female unemployment. Just because boys tend to be employed in high-order industries, like construction, while girls tend to get more “down-to-earth” jobs in services.
The data on unemployment among women is also skewed by methodology. Housewives, for example are not considered as unemployed, but excluded from the pool. The BLS web page says, “Persons who are neither employed nor unemployed are not in the labor force. This category includes… those taking care of children or other family members, and others who are neither working nor seeking work.”
