Writes Markus Bergstrom
I thought I should point out that the new HBO miniseries The Pacific by Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg aired its first episode on Sunday. The Pacific is mainly based on the book With the Old Breed by Eugene B. Sledge, and also features a character based on him throughout the series (although in the first episode he is only featured briefly). Coincidentally, Eugene gave a talk at the Mises Institute’s Costs of War seminar back in 1994 called The Old Breed and the Costs of War, and that talk is of course also featured in the book with the same name. The series is well worth watching, especially when combined with listening to his lecture.

All of us who escaped their generation’s war (mine was Vietnam) have to thank their lucky stars. Only hearing about it is enough scare the hell out of any sensible person and to evoke the greatest sorrow for those who did not escape, living or dead.

I agree with your point of view, I also agree, perhaps I have a lot of things we don’t know,
