I work with folks from The Great White North and at least one other country above the USA on the list. I will never hear the end of it.

I hear the complaints about living in Canada vs the USA. It should be funny and at the same time extremely sad that the USA keeps dropping closer and closer to the UK and other EU nations and away from the Pacific Countries who are headed in the opposite direction.

Think how bad this really is. Over 100 countries became more free the year of the survey while 3 countries did most of the work in making the entire world less free. And those countries are responsible for about 40% of WORLD GDP.

@ Bogart
Not all EU nations: Ireland is at no. 5 and we’re rather proud of that.

Curiously, 7 of the top 10 countries are former British colonies. The ‘mother country’ languishes at no. 11 unfortunately.

Being in Canada, I can tell you that our regulators are just as stupid and evil as the American ones.

Meh. Heritage has an agenda- to make the current administration appear as socialist as possible- and ranking the US below Commie Canada accomplishes just that.

New life for an old thread, maybe. This is pretty typical of Canada.
Note that the author uses the word ‘Ontario’, not ‘Ontario taxpayers’ when describing the source of the money handed over to Ford.
Also, the author heaps praise on Ford as being the only automaker not to need government money to continue operating in 2008. He never questions why they are accepting 81 million in 2010 so they will condescend to continue operating.
It is a puff piece, a bit of propaganda, but this is what passes for journalism up here.
Most Canadians think that this is how free markets work.

This is short, only a minute to read-
