Nobody here in SE WI asserts that the Bears are our main rival. We are well aware that it’s the vikings. However it’s a funny thing though. We are the Vikings main rival. We are the Bears main rival, and we are the Lions main rival. Everyone beat up the little guy, or should I say everyone get beaten up by the little guy

The Bears are the Packers’ rival when the Bears are good and the Vikings are when they are good. And the Lions are always terrible thus not being a rival. I am pretty sure the Cowboys were the Packers’ rival for some time too.

As for Leno…give it up dude. If you can’t succeed in an early time slot when all the elderly people who find you funny are still awake I don’t see how you are going to win over an increasingly younger crowd in the Tonight Show slot. Conan is great. Leave that pasty man alone.

I unfortunately must ignore the economic content of this whine-baggery to point out the far more obvious Big Lie endlessly perpetrated by those who live outside of our nice little hamlet in Green Bay.
Favre and ego? Please. One trip to youtube shows that Favre doesn’t have an egotistical bone in his body. Through his 16 year stint in GB, which I have followed since I was in kindergarten, I have watched a man give his heart and soul to our town, our team, and our fans… a majority of the time putting his own health at risk. (Vicodin and alcohol addictions included.)
That being said, let’s move onto the next absurd and anti-capitalist claim. Traitor? Are you kidding, or just not paying attention? I’m not sure how one is a traitor for trying desperately to play with the Packers, and being turned down. Yes, he waffled. Big deal. So did Reggie White… 3 times.
The same people who cry ‘traitor’ dont say the same thing about Reggie. Or that other guy…. Vince Lombardi. This is because our generation of Packer fans have no loyalty. Favre gave you 16 years of consummate professionalism and legendary performance. After 1 year you decry him because he plays on a team that is, by each and every football measure, a perfect fit?
Here’s a quarter. Buy yourself a memory that lasts longer than a fraction of a second.

This is the best analysis I have seen of these two seemingly-unrelated situations, yet I think you draw some interesting and insightful conclusions. Now, I really don’t think that the Vikes are going to win the Super Bowl, and while I used to be a Favre fan, I am no longer.

The Vikings face another problem in the long-term that the Packers have managed to avoid. I think that both of Favre’s backups are free agents after this season and with the prospect of winning the NFC and N FL championships in the realm of possibility, their draft position will probably be 24 or so. Not good for going after a Colt McCoy or even Sam Bradford. They’ll have to give up a lot of potential at other positions to secure a long term QB solution.
