A nice testament to a wonderful and brilliant man.

Once upon a time there was a high resolution version of this picture @ mises.org: http://picasaweb.google.com/MisesInstitute/RothbardImages#5400723517556723586

I’d paid loads to have it (and print it on canvas for my office)… Can anyone help me? Mr. Tucker?

Btw: who’s the man with Rothbard on this pic? http://picasaweb.google.com/MisesInstitute/RothbardImages#5400723493752477810

We can look for a hi rez

I think that may be Ralph Raico in the photo.

Arend January 7, 2010 at 9:49 am

That would be great, thanks in advance.

Yeah I think you’re right as it says Raico in the filename when you save it – there’s no copyright on it right?

They are all creative commons

I remember walking into a dismal Institute that morning and seeing the obituary Lew Rockwell had written sitting on the front desk. We were all stunned. What a sad day that was.

He died before I ever knew he existed :( It rakes my heart.

Brilliant man.

The picture I like most is the one with Rothbard in front of typewriter shirtless/naked?

Jeremy January 7, 2010 at 12:13 pm

Though Rothbard and I share a birthday, I was only 6 years old when he passed on. I’d give anything to have met him.

Arend January 7, 2010 at 12:23 pm

@ “Jeffrey Tucker

They are all creative commons”

Obviously. It was stupid for me to ask, really.

Ashley Smith January 7, 2010 at 1:52 pm

So sad that I discovered him so late. I just finished America’s Great Depression and it was phenomenal.

Murray will be remembered – I still treasure the long nights spent in his living room in Manhattan – he is in a class by himself

Just a reminder how we are all standing on the shoulders of giants.

Helio Beltrao January 7, 2010 at 4:29 pm

I shall always miss people like Murray. But above all, I owe a lot to him. Long live Murray N. Rothbard.

15 years ago on this very day I was on the phone with Jim Elwood, at that time the vice-president of ISIL, who told me that Mr. Libertarian had died a few hours ago… I couldn’t believe it, that was too early, too soon, too impossible. Shattered & in denial, I called 3H in Vegas who confirmed the awful truth: MNR was no more.

Christoph Kohring January 7, 2010 at 4:43 pm

It all happened in the last century, in the last millenium even! There was no internet yet…

Whereas Karl Marx [1805-1883] was the Man of the Century, the XXth century, the Age of Statism; Murray N. Rothbard [1926-1995] is the Man of the Millenium, the third millenium, the age of freedom & liberty. We own the future!

Christoph Kohring January 7, 2010 at 4:44 pm

There Is but One Goddess, Freedom!
Murray N. Rothbard Is Her Prophet
And the Libertarian Movement Her Church.

God bless Murray and Joey Rothbard!

The genius and joy of their work together has enriched the world for centuries.

Derek Ellerman January 7, 2010 at 11:09 pm

I owe everything I have, know, and believe to Murray. He died when i was 9, but we communicate through his books and ideas. Essentially, this means I do the best I can to explain his brilliance to other people.

bearing is right, we stand on the shoulders of giants.

and giants stand on the shoulders of Rothbard.

Rest in peace friend
