That was a good Jacques Rueff quote. Come to think of it, the website could certainly with more Jacques Rueff.

It was interesting to learn that Ludwig von Mises was from Lemberg. Without checking an atlas, I think that was part of the Polish Ukraine, later in the Soviet Union.
The other famous person from that small town (and who must have been a near-contemporary) was Rose Rand, a philosopher associated with the Verein Ernst Mach – the Vienna Circle – and a friend of both Karl Popper and Ludwig Wittgenstein, who were associated with that group early in their careers, but later repudiated much of that “Logical Positivism” frame of reference.
I didn’t know that Mises was Jewish, or much about his family history, before. Perhaps he and Rose were related!
Most libertarians don’t like to admit that Hayek and Wittgenstein were cousins, as well – their mothers having been first-cousins.
And so it goes….
