The solution to government interference in our daily lives is simple. All the People need to do is to invoke their Power under the Constitution, which says we have the Right to alter or to abolish the government if it does not protect our Rights. The People have the Right to decide what their Rights are; that is the way our Constitution is written. The problem is that the People don't know what their Rights are, and/or they are afraid to assert their Rights for fear of direct retribution by an abusive government.

The People have an answer to all of this. They just need "the balls" to carry it out.

Where is the anchor coming from? Perhaps a Chinese merchant ship!

Well said!
The world is currently overrun with watered down crap spewed from the MSM as well as countless blogs.
It's refreshing to come across the many bold free thinking individuals on this site.
Seattle,
This site isn't necessarily for those who want to dip their toe in the water to see if it's comfortable enough that it fits with their current beliefs.
They're going to have to cut their teeth somewhere else and then maybe they'll recognize the value of what they get when they visit here.

power lust is fueled by fear, ignorance, and a lack of humanity. it is found among the intelligent as much among the dregs. stalin, hitler, mao, pol pot, soetoro all rose to power on the shoulders of plutocrats.

we are educated in school to control. the higher the educational attainment the higher the proclivity to control.

chaos theory teaches that there is indeed order in ostensibly disordered milieus. thus the desire to control is an infatuated ignorance of the order of nature - an insight which adam smith had long before the emergence of fractal mathematics.

as for fear - the plutocrat sees vertigo and protects himself with snobbery and then with invincible power structures protecting his perch. such isolation leads to destruction which claims many lives as control reaches its teleological goal.

in the end control is an expression of auto apotheosis and a denial of the transcendently divine.

Ah yes, Indentured Servitude. Welcome to reality. The sad fact is that if you think of this concept like a smothering blanket instead of a hurdle in the traditional sense you will realize that the suffocation is growing.

I'm myself have have been over served by the pesky bar keep at my house (me) on occasion. In the old sense of servitude you merely had to pay the bill which was usually defined, limited and clear. When I purchased the Gin I helped fund all the small leaches attached to the Gin; taxes and regulations on the producer, shipper, etc. Then of course pay the giant leach with additional tax. But that was it. I was done. The Gin was mine.

Now of course, "Administratum" will again crash the party by telling me Gin is not healthy and begin protecting me from myself.

After all; they need to protect their servant.

If we abandon sincerity and integrity, we're no better than the all the other "political" websites espousing the left or the right.

We should not make it a goal to attract converts at all costs. We should speak the truth, and share it with those willing to listen. The more people we attract, the better, but this should not be the focused goal or we will lose sight of the truth.

Enjoy Every Sandwich

"Seattle,
How can a website dedicated to free market economics discuss that topic without discussing politics? There's only one entity that makes a free market unfree, and that's the state.

Are you suggesting that the site restrict itself to sifting statistics?"

Not at all, but there is a difference between "Government intervention necessarily distorts market operations" and "The State Is The Root Of All Evil And Must Die In A Fire." The latter types of articles are my concern.

By the way, what's the tag for the quote blocks?

A well written article that I'm sure most of us here would agree with, however it does raise concern, and it is not the only example.

Mises.org is supposedly an economics website. Economically ignorant people who happen to come across this site will likely be scared away by such... blatant anti-state writings. And unfortunately, this means they will miss out on the wonderful economic insights which are to be found here. More than one of my "referrals" to this place has been turned off as such. And I fear there may be many more than we are accounting for.

People have pro-state doctrine shoved down their throats nearly every day, all their lives. Most of them don't even know of anything else. When you give them such a sudden, stark contrast of opinion from what they are used to, they simply don't know how to react properly. In my experience, usually they just close their eyes and pretend to not hear it.

Of course it's not my job to dictate what does or does not make it to this website. Just voicing a concern.

Certainly an interesting point. One more abuse of power by a government agency. However, one may also cite the FDA's decades-long war against useful, largely harmless, and often extremely beneficial supplements, vitamins, herbal remedies, etc. and contrast it with their endorsements of so-called medicines whose chief, and often only benefit is mere symptom abatement, whether of arthritis, obesity, hypertension, clinical depression, and so on. the so called "side effects" of these pharmatoxins are deadlier than the diseases which they are ostensibly meant to treat!

One must also consider the "safety and efficacy" of FDA approved "antidepressants" which have induced some patients to commit SUICIDE, while outlawing relatively harmless substances--which can really counter severe depression in some people, such as marijuana, opium, and hashish, among others.

Similar observations apply, of course to the countless food additives--agratoxins--which that thoroughly irresponsible and corrupt, if not criminal, government agency allows, if not sometimes even requires, in our food!

Oh well, they're from the government, and they are here to "HELP" us.

PEACE AND FREEDOM!!
