First, some news about the facebook bomb. We are well on our way to achieving our goal of 20,000 fans by the end of 2009! Thanks to some amazing support and heavy campaigning from our existing fans, we surpassed 10,000 fans today! Remember, the point isn’t to have fans for bragging rights. The goal is to introduce as many people as possible to Austrian and libertarian theory. Facebook represents a very non-threatening medium in which to give newbies a taste of the philosophy. The great hope is that the content on the facebook page will pique people’s interest and prompt a more in-depth study at mises.org.
This week’s decision was harder than ever. The great content and intelligent discourse from the fans is simply amazing. The Top Discussion thread was started by Michael Hall on the topic of stealing food or dying of starvation. It is a great intellectual exercise that received dozens of different and thoughtful responses.
The title of Top Contributor for the week goes to Amelia Vreeland. She did a fantastic job of contributing well thought-out comments to multiple discussion threads. This truly was a very close race.
So who gets the book and the title of September’s Top Contributor? Michael Zymler truly deserves this honor. He has spent many hours helping to work through intellectual problems with his fellow Austrians and we can’t thank him enough! Mr. Zymler will receive one of the most, in demand, new publications: Property, Freedom and Society: Essays in Honor of Hans-Hermann Hoppe

I hope not…it might pique people’s interest, though
Thanks Peter … it is fixed now.
Oh, wow. I just realized that my name was printed here. Thanks for the recognition!
I wanted to say that I’ve really enjoyed the Mises Facebook discussions. I’m truly amazed at how civil all the discussions have been so far! It’s so often the case that forums rapidly devolve into petty arguments or name-calling.
What a great way to make new liberty loving friends! Thanks a lot for bringing some fantastic people together.

PS – You’re not kidding that this book is in demand! It’s near the top of my reading list!
BTW, I’ve always thought that the Mises Institute has done an incredible job with its imagery. Specifically, I’m referring to the styling of the book covers and the images used in the Mises Dailies.
Who is typically in charge of that?
