Freedom Book Club: Participants in our preference poll last month have, by the one of the narrowest margins in our history, have chosen The Politics of Obedience: The Discourse of Voluntary Servitude as the Book of the Month for September. Many responses were recorded, which, when tabulated, indicate that this text is our book of the month.

Short and to the point, very good read. Only problem I had was when he started blubbering on about the King of France and how, instead of all that he had written to the contrary about OTHER kings/rulers, he was a benevolent ruler with only the best interests of the country at heart. I figure he had to do that to avoid the chopping block.
Just my thoughts,

‘Freedom Book of the Month’ — what an interesting idea. And ‘The Politics of Disobedience’ available as a download, too! So there’s no excuse not to be au courant … except for finding the time to keep up with the cornucopia of Mises Institute literature.
There is a Freedom Book Club conference call happening to talk about “The Politics of Obedience.”
This will take place on 17 October 2009 from 5 PM until 6 PM (Mountain Daylight Savings Time). The conference call will be recorded and made available as a podcast, then syndicated through various channels, to an audience of about 30,000 people.
You can RSVP of this event on the fr33agents network by following this link: http://tr.im/zNAV
If there are any scholars willing to appear, I will confer upon you special guest status on the call.
