I really want to believe in Obamism..

but the numbers keep getting in the way: “Retail sales disappointed in July and the number of newly laid-off workers filing claims for unemployment benefits rose unexpectedly last week…. While autos, helped by the start of the Cash for Clunkers program, showed a 2.4 percent jump — the biggest in six months — there was widespread weakness elsewhere. Gasoline stations, department stores, electronics outlets and furniture stores all.”

Maybe the government should just pay everyone to buy everything, printing the money if necessary. Wait, that’s what they are doing.

Oh, and Ford is expanding production, despite the catastrophic malinvestment of the existing fleet. Who will point out that it is uneconomic and downright wasteful to make stuff noone wants, solely because the robbers have agreed to come up with a way to dispose of it?

*Sigh*

If Bastiat were alive today he would have to work every day, around the clock, explaining broken windows.

We just need a war! 8-/

Bob,

They’re working on that war. It distracts the rubes from the vast criminality taking place by engaging in an even worse criminality.

As long as the treasury department does not run out of ink and paper, we should be fine. Everyone knows the dollar is backed by the full faith and trust of the US Government.

Has anyone caught what’s happening in CA’s Central Valley?

The government turned the water supply off because allegedly an endangered minnow was found in the water.

Farms are now drying up, unemployment is catastrophic, production is in decline, and hardly anyone in the government is paying attention.

This is the only link I’ve found on it so far…

Yes, the environmentalists turned off the water. The farmers could not grow crops and the Delta Smelt minnows died of dehydration.

The moment consumer confidence improves you will see a crack up boom in the economy, and then you will be forced to chew your words back.

I am not supporting Obamaism or anything, I am merely telling you that so much money threw into the market is bound to show up some time, and then all the Obamabots will be screaming at your face on telling you how under America’s First Black President America is seeing a new era of growth, prosperity and environmental awareness.

There is “cash-to-clunkers” idiocy in my country [Serbia]. You buy FIAT Punto 188 (made in Serbia), you bring old car, and government will subsidy it up to 1.000 EUR (depend how old car is). Basically, you can buy new car for 5.999 EUR.

The whole program just plain sucks, and better not to write about it…

P.S.
I’m going to “help” Ford by buying used Focus (Ford Europe and USA are two totally different manufacturers) :-) ).
