Any Bostonian Misesians?

June 4, 2009 by

I’ll be giving what I hope will be a fairly punchy talk about the economic crisis tonight (Thursday, June 4) at The Greatest Bar, 262 Friend Street, Boston. Doors open at 6:30, I start at 7. At worst it’s a night of good cheer with like-minded people, so please stop in if you’re so inclined.

In response to the question asking if any Bostonians
are Misesians, the answer is very few.

The typical MA resident loves government to no end.
Yesterday the former Speaker of the Massachusetts House of Representatives (Sal DeMasi) was indicted on the usual charges – political corruption.

Yet, if one listens to the Boston area radio talk shows, it quickly becomes apparent that the average Bostonian is intellectually incapable of grasping the connection between political favoritism,
corruption and the fat, bloated, overfunded
governments in place here.

I will do my best to be there. Would be happy to know there are more than 3 like minded folks in Boston.

Like me, I’m sure there are a number of others who would love to be there, but just can’t make it tonight – we’ll be there in spirit!

To George (“..the average Bostonian is intellectually incapable of grasping the connection..”):

But it’s not that difficult to grasp! There’s gotta be more at work: lack of knowledge, and of intellectual leadership; lack of fortitude to go against the tide. As for the Boston radio talk-shows, one can get a glimmer of hope at times, with Howie Carr.

I’ll try to be there.

Planning to be there if I can get out of work at a reasonable time.

Wish I’d known earlier, I’d have come down!

Just a suggestion: there are lots of Austrians amongst the members of the Free State Project (http://freestateproject.org). I’d suggest promoting any events in Boston at http://nhunderground.org/.

We *love* liberty, and we *love* liberty events!

I know there is intreast among those of us in New Hampshire, However I do not think a lot of us want to make the trip into Boston. Perhaps you can pay a visit to Murphy’s Taproom in Manchester, NH if you have time. It’s a short drive north (like 50 miles) and I’m sure you would have a packed house on short notice.

As a former Boston Area resident, I wish something like this had happened when I was in the area. Sounds like a good time.

In Connecticut now.

Really enjoyed it, thanks.

I wish I had seen this sooner! Living and working in Boston I am always looking for opportunities to speak with like-minded people. Debate can be wonderful but sometimes I need to recharge…

Should have checked mises.org yesterday!

I’m an MIT graduate student. I’d enjoy participating in any future events. Perhaps future events can be organized using:

Cheers.
